FOOD POST: BONO GELATO – The Real Gelato

Gelato is the Italian word for Ice Cream. It is STILL an ice cream but made in the ITALIAN WAY!

I had been to several gelato places, but I must say that this one is by far the BEST I’ve tried.

So what make BONO different from other gelato places? (REFER TO THE IMAGE BELOW)

It is also posted on their store wall.

So many different flavors to choose listed on their menu screen.

You also can't see their gelato to ensure the least amount of light and air exposure, as well as to maintain it to a specific temperature

I ordered a scoop of Mango gelato. (130pesos)

It is the creamiest, silkiest and most amazing gelato that I've ever tasted.  Trying to express it in words would be an insult because it is beyond description.

The thin, crisp wafer goes wonderful with it. The gelato itself is so divine and so good; I’m just beyond words, really.

I might sound over exaggerated, but it’s the truth. Read the review made here by ThePickiestEater and see how much he also raved about this gelato experience.

PRICE LIST

OVERALL

I LOVE IT! It’s a bit pricey but I wouldn't mind paying a hefty price for something high in quality.

I will definitely go back to try their Malted Cookie Dough and Matcha Green Tea with Azuki Red Beans.

FOOD POST: A Super Diner at SUPER BOWL OF CHINA

Since me and my hubby loves Flavours of China so much, we wanted to try similar restaurants that lead us to – Super Bowl of China.

We arrived during their dinner service and the place is fully packed, which is a good thing right? We waited for around 20 minutes to be seated.

The place is nice – nothing spectacular with the ambiance or the decorations. I love the Chinese inspired lights though, hanging all over the place.

Busy Counter

Like other Chinese themed restaurants, Super Bowl of China offers an assortment of dishes – Dimsum, Noodles, Fried Rice, Chicken, Beef, Vegetables, and so on.

3 Cup Chicken (260pesos)

Three Cup Chicken is actually a Taiwanese - Chinese dish made of chicken (of course) cooked in soy sauce and sesame oil loaded with cloves of garlic and slices of ginger. It’s like Adobo, but better.

I love how the sauce permeated in the chicken.  The chicken is tender and very flavorful.

Shrimp and Mushroom with Brocolli (365pesos)

This is one of their NEW dishes which are not in their regular menu and only available for a limited period of time.  It’s basically sauteed shrimp w/ mushrooms, broccoli, & other vegetables in a special white cooking sauce.

The shrimp is plump, juicy and not overcooked. The broccoli is half cooked which I loved – and the white sauce is divine.

The savor is the exact opposite of the chicken. The chicken has this very strong bold taste while the shrimp is very delicate.

Yang Chow Fried Rice (250pesos)

The fried rice is fluffy but not that flavorful. It tasted ok – but then again I had better.

 Mango Sago (95pesos)

Mango Sago is a very popular dessert in SE Asia especially in Hong Kong where it is believed to be invented.

I love mangoes and I love sago – so this is just the perfect way to end our dinner.

I am just happy how our impromptu dinner turned out. We were full and satisfied. We are definitely coming back to try their other dishes.

FOOD POST: An evening snack at Tokyo Bubble Tea

Tokyo Bubble Tea in The Fort is open 24 hours which is AWESOME!  I’ve been here several times for their Milk Tea, but haven’t tried any of their food offerings.

It’s around 2 am so I just wanted to eat something light but still filling.

The place is clean and cozy. I think it can sit around 30-50 people on a busy lunch/dinner.

Kani Salad (135pesos)

The mangoes are sweet. The salad also has a generous amount of Kani (Crab Sticks). Mayonnaise is just regular mayonnaise. It also has some Orange-fish roe which I love and a few Nori strips.

The salad is pretty good, but I would prefer lettuce than cabbage, (wala na daw silang lettuce kaya sinusbtitute nalang ang cabbage), but it’s ok because it still tasted amazing.
For the price though, it is very SULIT.  This is a meal in itself.

Gyoza (123pesos)

This, I must say, is very substandard. It just tasted like the frozen gyoza you can buy in the supermarket.
I’m not sure if they make their own gyoza (like in Mitsuyado Sei-Men)  or if its store bought.

Beef Ramen (268pesos)

This is my officemate’s order but I was still able to try it (Konti Lang)
It is quite good considering the price. The serving is also pretty decent. The broth is fine, the meat is tender, noodles are ok, and the egg is good but overdone.

The only shortcoming about this ramen was that they serve it LUKEWARM. Not hot like it’s supposed to be but tepid.

Overall, the experience is good but nothing extraordinary. I still wanted to try other dishes like their Katsudon, Sushi, Sashimi and their burgers – so I’ll definitely be back.

FOOD POST: YAKIMIX PRIME is NOT that Prime at all

So here we are!!! Since me and my friends can’t settle on where to eat, we ended up choosing an Eat All You Can Buffet place.

Yakimix Prime is said or rather, supposed to be a “high end” version of the original Yakimix Buffet. One of the things that make it special is that they serve Wagyu Beef (for grilling).

What’s my conclusion? Let’s go through the pictures for you to find out!

Ambiance wise, it is more fancy than the regular Yakimix branches.  Staffs are also more spontaneous in assisting diners.

Salad Bar

Sushi Selection – nothing new or worth remembering. I didn’t take anything from this part.

Gyoza, Tonkatsu and other fried foods – by request.

My friend, digging in the stir fried noodle section.

Different choices of shabu shabu – by request as well.

Shrimp soup. Looks cute!

My  1st plate. (Breaded fish fillet, crabstick tempura, clam with vermicelli noodles, fish fillet in some kind of sauce, fried chicken fillet yakitori, shrimp taro tempura, stuffed squid, vegetable tempura, siomai and meat roll)

2nd plate. Shrimp Tempura – crispy batter and not too oily.

3rd plate. Takoyaki – I’ve had better.

4th plate. Gyoza – skin of gyoza is good and has a spring back effect. Love it! Filling is just ok.

5th plate. Desserts! (Mochi Ice Cream, Cream Puff, some fusion kind of tiramisu, blueberry and strawberry cheesecake and leche flan)

Vanilla and Strawberry ice cream.

ChanakPigs Attack!!!!

I forgot to take picture of the meats for grilling, but it’s just the same with other branches.

There are also some selection of viands which I didn’t bother trying. They look all too familiar.

Drinks are unlimited – sodas, fruit juices, ice tea and draft beer.

Oh, and the WAGYU? It’s not real – real wagyu, maybe the lowest class of wagyu type beef that have. (You’d know what I’m talking about if you have tasted real good quality Wagyu beef)

Overall, it was ok.  I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. I would still prefer Vikings over this, though Vikings is pricier, they have more selections of food and taste-wise – better.
